Plot

Maya, a sharp and resourceful young woman, crosses the Mexican border without documentation to reunite with her sister Rosa in Los Angeles. Rosa secures Maya a job with a non-union janitorial service, where the harsh supervisor reigns over the staff. Amidst this challenging environment, union organizer Sam Shapiro arrives to advocate for the "justice for janitors" movement, capturing Maya's interest. Meanwhile, Rosa grapples with her husband's health issues, complicating her support for Maya's growing involvement. As tensions mount between the workers and management, a clash seems inevitable, pitting family loyalty against the fight for workers' rights.
