Plot

In 1829, Nikolay Gogol, a young clerk in the Third Section, grapples with self-doubt over his writing, even resorting to burning his own books. Plagued by severe epileptic seizures, he struggles to maintain his job. When investigator Yakov Guro inadvertently witnesses one of Gogol's fits, he recognizes the potential of Gogol’s visions to crack real criminal cases. Teaming up, they delve into a bizarre and perplexing mystery in the village of Dikanka, where the townsfolk guard dark secrets that could unravel everything.
