Plot
In a World War I German prison camp, a diverse group of French soldiers, led by the noble Captain de Boeldieu and the humble Lieutenant Maréchal, confront their contrasting social backgrounds. After being moved to a heavily fortified stronghold, they devise an elaborate escape plan under the scrutiny of the sophisticated German officer von Rauffenstein, who has surprisingly developed a friendship with de Boeldieu. As tensions rise, the soldiers must navigate their differences and the complexities of their situation to find freedom.
