Plot

Wealthy and impulsive Julie Merriday is enjoying a day out with her boyfriend, attorney Harry Lindsay, when they nearly collide with a motorcycle ridden by young Ben Gunther. After the mishap, Ben leaves his damaged bike behind and accepts a ride from Julie, insisting on calling her Barbara. At the Merriday beach house, Aunt Sarah reveals a surprising family secret: Julie's great-great-grandmother was named Barbara, and she had an illegitimate child with a man also named Benjamin Gunther, intertwining their fates in a web of history and mystery.
