Plot

Mamie, a young orphan who endured hardship in a cruel institution, finds solace when Mrs. Caldwell adopts her. She forms a close bond with Mrs. Caldwell’s son, Alexander, affectionately calling him "Zander." Tragedy strikes when Mrs. Caldwell passes away, leading the authorities to return Zander to the very orphanage that traumatized Mamie. Appalled by the thought of him facing the same fate, she resolves to protect him from the harsh experiences she once endured, determined to ensure a brighter future for her beloved friend.
