Set against the backdrop of Narendra Modi's rise as a controversial candidate for India's Prime Minister, Even the Crows delves into the deep religious divides in Gujarat fueled by his Hindu nationalist policies. Following the devastating anti-Muslim riots of 2002, the Muslim community finds itself marginalized and seeking justice. The documentary intimately chronicles the experiences of Nishrin, whose father, a prominent Muslim politician, was murdered during the violence, and Imran, the sole survivor of an attack on his family.
