The Shatila refugee camp in Lebanon gained notoriety following the devastating Sabra-Shatila massacre in 1982. Nestled in Beirut's "belt of misery," it houses around 15,000 Palestinians and Lebanese, all grappling with hardship and displacement. Fifty years after their grandparents' expulsion from Palestine, the camp's children strive to understand their refugee status amid a history of violence and deprivation. Director Mai Masri highlights the lives of two young residents, Farah, 11, and Issa, 12. Gifted video cameras, they share their personal stories, illuminating the hopes and struggles of their generation through their lens.
