Plot
Amid World War II, a young soldier deserts his post after a traumatic encounter, injuring his commanding officer in his escape. Struggling with his emotional turmoil, he disguises himself in women’s clothing and joins a gypsy caravan, where he is mistaken for a young girl and perceived as a mystical figure, or "rawney." As he starts to regain his sense of self, he develops feelings for a fellow gypsy girl. However, his past catches up with him when the injured officer tracks him down, complicating his new life within the caravan.
