Plot

In 1898, friends John Thomas and Lars Larson venture to the Yukon with their wives in search of wealth. Their lives take a turn when Thomas' wife gives birth to a son, while Larson's wife has a daughter named Julia. A striking birthmark on Julia's shoulder raises doubts for Larson about his paternity. Two decades later, both men have amassed fortunes, but tragedy strikes with Larson's wife's death. As Julia and Thomas develop feelings for each other and wish to marry, Larson stands resolutely against their union, shrouding their love in tension and uncertainty.
