Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi was sentenced to six years in prison and given a 20-year prohibition from directing films and engaging with foreign media after he openly backed the opposition during Iran's 2009 elections. In this film, secretly captured by his close friend Mojtaba Mirtahmasb and ingeniously smuggled into France on a USB hidden inside a cake for a last-minute Cannes submission, Panahi chronicles his life under house arrest while he anxiously awaits the outcome of his appeal.
