Plot

Returning to Suriname to be with his ailing mother, an Afro-Surinamese student from the Netherlands faces a dilemma. He is caught between his life in Amsterdam with his white Dutch girlfriend and the prospects of a future in his newly independent homeland. Complicating matters further, he develops feelings for a local Hindostani nurse, forcing him to confront his identity and the choices before him.
