A carefree grasshopper enjoys life by playing his fiddle, while diligent ants prepare for the harsh winter ahead. He charms a curious young ant with his music, but their queen soon intervenes, reminding the grasshopper of his carefree ways. As winter arrives, the grasshopper finds himself starving and discovers the ants indulging in a cozy feast. They welcome him into their home but under one condition: he must entertain them with his music in exchange for food. The queen emphasizes that only those who contribute to the community can partake in the rewards.
