Plot
Nineteen-year-old Julio leaves his provincial home for Lisbon, where he secures a position as a shoemaker under his uncle Raul. Life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Ilda, a vibrant housemaid who frequently visits the shop. Their interactions spark a clash between Julio's working-class upbringing and the alluring, yet superficial, charms of bourgeois society. As their relationship develops, Julio grapples with his identity and the pressures of modern life, ultimately challenging his values in pursuit of love and self-discovery.
