Plot

Homer Flagg, a railroad worker in the quaint town of Desert Hole, New Mexico, stumbles upon an abandoned car at a former atomic testing site. When his doctor and close friend, Steve Harris, reveals that Homer is suffering from radiation poisoning with only three weeks left to live, the news catches the attention of a New York reporter. Motivated to help, she persuades her editor to arrange an extravagant trip to New York for Homer, offering him a chance to live out his final days in a whirlwind of adventure and excitement.
