Plot

In the summer of 1963, the Watson family from Flint, Michigan, faces a challenge as 15-year-old Byron's rebellious behavior escalates. Realizing they need help, his parents decide to send the family to visit Grandma Sands in Birmingham, Alabama, hoping her firm guidance will set Byron straight. Loading their vintage 1948 Plymouth Brown Bomber, they embark on their journey south. Upon arrival, they meet Grandma Sands and her friend, Mr. Robert, and quickly discover the stark contrasts between their hometown and Birmingham. As historic events unfold, the Watsons find themselves intertwined in a pivotal moment that impacts their lives and the nation.
