Plot

Set during World War II, this British comedy follows mechanic George Singleton, played by George Formby, as he navigates a humorous rivalry within the Home Guard. Faced with competing units led by Major Wallop and Minor Wallop, George attempts an unconventional commando raid to snatch a Vickers machine gun, but the plan backfires, resulting in the loss of his rank. Undeterred, he teams up with a spirited evacuee girl named Irene, portrayed by Vera Frances, to create an ambitious "Plan B" — constructing their very own tank to turn the tides of their antics.
