Plot

Umekichi, a geisha in Kyoto's Gion district, grapples with loyalty when her lover, Furusawa, seeks refuge after losing everything and abandoning his wife. Despite her feelings, her pragmatic younger sister Omocha warns her that Furusawa is a dead end, urging them both to pursue wealthier sponsors instead. Determined to improve their fortunes, Omocha devises various plans to rid them of Furusawa, believing that a shift in their romantic pursuits will lead to better opportunities and a more secure future for them both.
