Plot

A Moscow doctor takes a position at a remote mental institution, intrigued by a patient who claims to be Yakov Yurovsky, the assassin of the last Russian tsar. Their discussions reveal the patient’s philosophical insights and suggestive power, gradually ensnaring the doctor in the haunting events of June 16-17, 1918. As he immerses himself in the tragic story of Tsar Nicholas II, who was executed alongside his family without trial, the doctor begins to recognize the deep connection between their fates, transforming his perception of history and personal tragedy.
