Carroll Shelby's journey began on a Texas chicken farm, but his passion for speed propelled him into the spotlight of auto racing. In 1959, he achieved a remarkable feat by conquering the 24 Hours of Le Mans while still donning his farm attire. A serious heart condition forced Shelby to hang up his racing gloves, but he channeled his energy into founding Shelby American. With a diverse team of hot-rodders, he crafted revolutionary sports cars like the Shelby Cobra and led Ford's GT40 to triumph over Ferrari. Shelby remains a unique figure, having won Le Mans as both a driver and a manufacturer.
