Plot

Intrepid filmmaker Nanfu Wang ventures to Hainan Province, shadowing bold activist Ye Haiyan, known as Hooligan Sparrow, and her team as they rally against the sexual abuse of six elementary school girls by their principal. Facing relentless government scrutiny, the activists endure harassment, interrogation, and the looming threat of imprisonment. Sparrow, renowned for her advocacy for sex workers, passionately fights for the rights of girls and women, leveraging the influence of social media to amplify their cause. The tension is palpable as they challenge the oppressive forces surrounding them.
