Plot

Hester Bevins, a naïve country girl, dreams of a more exciting life beyond her small village. Despite the unwavering affection of Jerry, her devoted suitor, she heads to New York City seeking adventure. In the bustling metropolis, she falls into a tumultuous romance with a wealthy, unscrupulous businessman. However, her world is turned upside down when Jerry returns from the war, blind and gravely injured.
