A child prodigy in country music and a teenage rhythm & blues sensation, Sahm stirred excitement at his San Antonio high school. Rising to fame with the Sir Douglas Quintet, he arrived in San Francisco during the iconic Summer of Love in 1967. Returning to Texas, he became the cowboy-hippie rocker who fostered Austin’s music scene before co-founding the Tex-Mex powerhouse, The Texas Tornados. Sahm's eclectic spirit and deep-rooted connection to Texas embody the essence of its musical legacy.
