Plot
In 1990s rural China, the discovery of a woman's body by a river sends shockwaves through Banpo Town. Chief of Criminal Police Ma Zhe leads the investigation, quickly apprehending a suspect. However, as he unearths more evidence, Ma Zhe realizes there's more beneath the surface than a simple case. Pressured by his superiors to close the case, he becomes increasingly determined to uncover the darker truths lurking within the community, revealing the complexities of human nature and the secrets that bind the townspeople together.
