Kayla (1997)

Plot

In the 1920s, young Sam MacKenzie struggles to fit into his new Canadian life after his explorer father vanishes in the Arctic. Isolated and at odds with his stepfather, he finds comfort in Kayla, a spirited wild dog he dreams of racing in a prestigious dogsled competition. When the townspeople reject Kayla, Sam faces a heartbreaking challenge to protect her. Their bond deepens as he navigates adversity, ultimately discovering courage and friendship in the most unexpected places.
