Plot

Larceny, infidelity, and deception mark the chaotic Christmas celebration of the Dredge family. Twelve-year-old Joey Dredge finds himself in hot water after being expelled for a reckless stunt and struggling with his father's death and his mother’s new boyfriend, along with the latter's bullying son. His holiday prospects dim until great-grandfather Albert arrives, having just been released from prison. Sharing a shed with the raucous elder, Joey's life takes a wild turn. Amid outrageous antics, including barbecuing the family dog and a chaotic dinner, Joey learns valuable lessons from Albert about confronting the past and looking toward the future.
