Twelve-year-old Malia, daughter of a Sudanese wrestling champion, is forcibly taken from her village by pro-government militia and sold into slavery. Enduring years of abuse in Khartoum, she is eventually sent to London, where her identity is erased and her life remains one of servitude. Stripped of her passport and threatened with harm to her father if she seeks help, Malia's situation seems bleak. However, a compassionate stranger offers her a glimmer of hope for freedom and a chance to reunite with her father, Bah. The film poignantly highlights the ongoing issue of modern slavery, with thousands still trapped in servitude in the UK.
