Plot

In San Francisco's Richmond District, a widow prepares to celebrate the Chinese New Year while contemplating a trip to China to honor her ancestors. At 62, she’s troubled by a fortune teller’s ominous prediction of her impending death. Her daughter, Geraldine, grapples with her own uncertainties about marriage, especially with her boyfriend in Los Angeles and her mother’s need for support during her twilight years. Meanwhile, Uncle Tam, Mrs. Tan's upbeat brother-in-law, offers his assistance, hoping to ease their family’s burdens and bring joy to their lives during this challenging time.
