Plot

James Krippendorf, a grieving anthropologist, finds himself in a bind after wasting his grant funds. Desperate to validate his research, he fabricates a New Guinea tribe called the Shelmikedmu, enlisting his three troubled kids to don grass skirts and perform elaborate rituals. Their newfound "primitive culture" captivates the academic community. However, when a vindictive rival threatens to expose his deceit, Krippendorf must scramble to protect his illusion and maintain his reputation. The tangled web of deception leads to comedic chaos as he fights to keep his created tribe alive in the eyes of the world.
