A Crime on the Bayou (2021)

Plot

Set in 1966 Plaquemines Parish, Gary Duncan, a Black teenager, attempts to mediate a dispute between Black and white youths outside his newly integrated school. When he lightly touches a white boy’s arm, the reaction is swift and hostile. That night, police raid his home, arresting him for assault. Enter Richard Sobol, a young Jewish lawyer who leaves his job in D.C. to assist Duncan. Together, they confront a deeply entrenched racist legal system, ultimately taking their battle to the U.S. Supreme Court, solidifying a bond that transcends their struggles.
