Plot
A young boy’s innocence is shattered amidst the chaos of World War II. He and his friends trail a Romanian soldier as they march towards the front lines to join forces against the Nazis. Witnessing the death of a friend after a risky mission weighs heavily on him, especially after being reprimanded by a furious soldier for his indifference. As the boy becomes a symbol of hope for the advancing troops, tragedy strikes when they are ambushed while posing for a photo. Captured by a German soldier, he ultimately escapes when local peasants exact their revenge, leading him back to his homeland in Romania.
