Plot
After being arrested for prostitution, Mae seizes a fresh start and vows to turn her life around. A warm-hearted cab driver, Jimmy Doyle, helps her secure a job at a diner, where she connects with Gert, another woman trying to escape her past. As Mae and Jimmy fall in love and plan their future together, Gert's desperate plea for financial help drags Mae into a criminal situation. Misunderstandings arise, leading Jimmy to believe Mae has betrayed him, casting doubt on their relationship and threatening their dreams.
