The Caretaker (1964)

Plot

Aston, a solitary and introverted man, resides in a disheveled top-floor room of a dilapidated house in a struggling London neighborhood. He develops a bond with Mac Davies, a down-and-out former café worker, and offers him a position as the house's caretaker. However, Aston's brother Mick, a cruel and mocking figure, creates tension by bullying Mac whenever Aston is absent, undermining his authority and complicating their fragile dynamic. This psychological drama explores themes of friendship, power, and vulnerability amidst a backdrop of urban decay.
