Plot

Bright and imaginative, young Benno (Torsten Rennert) feels overlooked by his busy parents in Berlin. During a train journey, he encounters Oskar Schrader (Erwin Geschonneck), a quirky retiree with a passion for cooking, watch collecting, and magic, who finds solace in nature. Their unexpected friendship blossoms, allowing Benno to spend his school holidays in Oskar’s garden colony, where they navigate a mix of amiable and cantankerous neighbors. Alongside his friend Mutz (Thomas Hoffer), Benno delights in playing pranks on the eccentric Irma Kalweit (Agnes Krause) and the brash Ralf Klotz (Henry Hübchen).
