Notes from Underground (1995)

Plot

In this adaptation of Dostoevsky's novella, Henry Czerny portrays the Underground Man, who serves as the narrator. Struggling with deep self-loathing, he records a video diary reflecting on his flaws and his views on the failings of modern society. His resentment erupts during a dinner with former college friends, prompting him to flee to a nearby brothel. There, he encounters Liza (Lee), a young woman working as a prostitute, leading to unexpected connections and revelations.
