Plot

Professor Griggs struggles to make ends meet at his college job, while his affluent neighbor, shoemaker Olsen, enjoys a life of comfort. The Griggs family faces financial hardship, contrasting sharply with Olsen's abundance. When wealthy student Phil West becomes infatuated with Griggs' lovely daughter, Amelia, he also befriends the destitute Reverend Gates, who harbors feelings for her as well. Moved by their plight, Phil seeks to bridge the gap between their worlds, aiming to uplift those around him while navigating his own emotions and social disparities.
