Plot

Set against the backdrop of Mozambique's civil war in 1989, a precarious train journey from Nampula to Malawi becomes a lifeline for those daring enough to trade salt for sugar. The train, riddled with hazards from sabotage, carries Mariamu and her friend Rosa, a nurse confronting the brutal realities of conflict for the first time. Alongside them are Lieutenant Taiar, accustomed only to military life, and his unwelcome companion, soldier Salomão. Amidst the chaos of gunfire and fleeting moments of humor, their intertwined stories of love and survival unfold on this perilous ride.
