The Subject (2021)

Plot

A successful white documentarian grapples with the repercussions of his previous film, which captured the shocking murder of a Black teenager. As he embarks on creating a new documentary series, the weight of his past looms large. Unbeknownst to him, a mysterious figure is recording his every action, blurring the lines between art, ethics, and accountability. Tensions rise as he confronts the consequences of his work, forcing him to reckon with his privilege and the impact of his art on the lives of others.
