Plot

Following the end of slavery, sharecropper Yarborough established a small church that eventually blossomed into a global religious organization with over 4 million members. The Head of the Organization (HOO) wields influence comparable to the Pope, and this role must be filled by a male member of the Yarborough lineage. After the death of the current HOO, Michael, who was poised to inherit the title, finds himself disqualified when his sister Judy exposes his teenage missteps. Determined to see his child Tahir take the position before Judy and the selection committee discover Tahir is a trans woman, Michael faces off against Judy, who aims to thwart him just as she did 25 years ago, unearthing dark family secrets in the process.
