Plot

Set in the aftermath of World War II in Vienna, Holly Martins, a struggling Western novelist, visits the city to see his old friend Harry Lime, only to discover that Harry has recently passed away. As Holly delves deeper into the circumstances surrounding Harry's untimely demise, he becomes intrigued by the mysterious "third man" who was allegedly at the scene. His investigation faces obstacles from British officer Major Calloway, while he also finds himself irresistibly drawn to Anna, Harry's heartbroken girlfriend.
