Plot

With World War II on the horizon, Pope Pius XI enlists an earnest American priest to confront the rising threats of Nazism and anti-Semitism. However, after the pope's untimely death, the mantle of leadership falls to Pope Pius XII, who adopts a markedly different approach to Hitler's regime and the unfolding horrors of the Holocaust.
