Plot
Henri Serin, portrayed by Jean-Pierre Marielle, is an unassuming umbrella salesman whose life revolves around work, family, and painting. To escape the monotony imposed by his narrow-minded wife, he engages in fleeting romantic affairs during his business trips. One day, craving freedom, Henri abandons his old life to embrace a simpler existence filled with love and fresh water. His journey takes him to Pont-Aven, where he meets Émile, a local artist mimicking Gauguin. Together, they bond over drinks and shared interests, finding a carefree camaraderie that challenges Henri's previous constraints.
