Plot

In "Heaven Can Wait" (1978), Joe Pendleton, a talented quarterback, is gearing up to take his team to the Super Bowl when a near-fatal accident occurs. An eager angel mistakenly transports him to the afterlife, only to realize that Joe wasn't meant to die and that his original body has been cremated. To rectify this, they select the body of a recently slain millionaire. This unexpected twist baffles the millionaire's wife and accountant, while Joe seizes the opportunity to buy the L.A. Rams, aiming to lead them to the Super Bowl once again.
