In a repressive Tehran, Azar Nafisi, a fervent teacher, secretly gathers six female students to explore forbidden Western literature. As they immerse themselves in the writings of Nabokov, Fitzgerald, James, and Austen, the students gradually remove their veils, revealing their authentic selves. Their individual journeys intertwine with the literature, exposing their hopes and dreams. Through this clandestine literary group, Nafisi's students challenge the constraints of their oppressive society, confronting the complex interplay of political, moral, and personal issues that define their existence.
