Plot

Joel and Garda Sloan, a married couple who work as detectives and rare book dealers in New York, decide to take a holiday in Seaside City. While there, Joel’s friend Mike Stevens is busy organizing a beauty pageant, and Joel becomes a judge, much to Garda's annoyance, especially after he invests $5,000 in the event. Trouble arises when Eric Bartell, a promoter, shows up to swindle Mike. The situation escalates when Ed Connors, a racketeer from New York, appears and Bartell is found dead under suspicious circumstances. Determined to uncover the truth, Joel and Garda launch their own investigation into the murder.
