Plot
Set in 1774, just before the French Revolution, Madame de Dumeval and the Dukes de Tesis and de Wand find themselves cast out from Louis XVI's rigid court. They seek the guidance of the enigmatic Duc de Walchen, a German charmer disillusioned by the hypocrisy surrounding him. Their goal is to promote libertinage, an ideology that celebrates freedom from moral constraints, while also searching for a sanctuary to indulge their desires. Here, pleasure reigns supreme, unbound by societal laws and driven solely by the pursuit of unfulfilled passions.
