Plot

In 1973 Brooklyn, four young African-American men, in desperate need of firearms for protection, find themselves trapped by the NYPD. A chaotic shootout ensues, resulting in the death of an officer and igniting the longest hostage crisis in NYPD history. Traditionally, the police would issue an ultimatum and resort to lethal force. However, visionary psychologist Harvey Schlossberg aims to change the approach by advocating for negotiation with the alleged criminals to save twelve hostages from disaster. Through rare footage and compelling survivor interviews, *Hold Your Fire* reveals the transformative potential of this pivotal moment in American law enforcement.
