Plot
Lieutenant Jeff Knight, a West Point graduate, faces harsh realities when he assumes command of Sergeant Michael McNamara's seasoned platoon in a Vietnamese trench camp. Unlike his predecessor, who avoided confrontation, Jeff embraces leadership, only to discover that the Army manual fails to prepare him for the complexities of war. After enduring injury, he earns the respect of both his men and superiors. Amidst the backdrop of conflict with the Vietcong, the platoon navigates the distrustful local villagers, some of whom collaborate with enemy forces, creating a tense atmosphere rife with danger and reprisals.
