Behind the Eight Ball (1942)

Plot

Set against the backdrop of a summer theater in the picturesque Berkshire Mountains, aspiring Broadway producer Joan Barry (Carol Bruce) faces a crisis when two guest stars are murdered during performances. Determined to unravel the mystery, detective William Demarest insists that the cast and audience return the following weekend to perform the show again. With no prominent actor willing to replace the fallen stars, Joan reluctantly turns to the Three Jolly Jesters (Al, Harry, and Jimmy Ritz), a trio of washroom attendants from Manhattan eager to seize their chance in the spotlight.
