Plot

Petre Orsa, a young peasant, aspires to rise in the ranks at the Hunedoara Steel Mill, inspired by his idol, Mihai Solca, a celebrated communist industrial figure. Starting at the bottom, Petre toils away with a shovel, but his determination catches the eye of seasoned foreman Tudor Baci. Under Baci's guidance, Petre begins to learn the ropes of steelmaking, navigating the challenges and camaraderie of mill life while striving to realize his ambition of becoming a master steelworker.
