The Seventh Sin (1957)

Plot

In post-WWII Hong Kong, Carol finds herself in a loveless marriage with physician Walter, leading her to an affair with Paul. When Walter uncovers the betrayal, he offers her a stark choice: join him in China to combat a cholera outbreak or face public disgrace through divorce. Carol tries to negotiate, but Paul refuses to leave his wife. Left with little option, she travels to a village with Walter, where she meets the drunken Tim and the nuns at a hospital-convent, prompting a deep self-reflection. Discovering her pregnancy complicates matters further, especially after Walter succumbs to cholera, leaving Carol with an uncertain future.
